Whilst there is a booking system in place at the Churchfields Road Reuse and Recycling Centre, residents are advised that an appointment is not needed to use the weekend garden waste sites, with this being a convenient disposal option for all for garden waste such as prunings, grass cuttings and the like.
Councillor Will Rowlands, Executive Councillor for Environment said, “Unlike previous years, all the weekend garden waste disposals sites will operate for the entire gardening season. This is a convenient option for residents, with the garden waste being composted and adding to our recycling tonnages. Please familiarise yourself with the locations and operating times, including whether your preferred venue is open on Saturday or Sunday.”
All green garden waste must be bagged and residents must bring their council tax bill, driver’s licence or a form of identification that includes their address. Residents are asked to please do not put your garden waste in builders’ sacks, as these are too heavy to be lifted safely.
The green garden waste sites are open at weekends from the first weekend in March 2025 through to the end of October 2025. The operating times and locations are:
Garden waste such as grass cuttings, prunings and dead plants can be taken to any of the sites for disposal, with tree trunks or large branches not able to be included. Items such as soil, rubble or garden furniture, including flower pots, are also not included in the scheme.
No green garden waste can be accepted outside these operating times. Sites are closely monitored and all fly tippers will be prosecuted. No commercial garden waste will be accepted.
Resident gardeners are also reminded that the Council also operates a garden waste collection scheme where, for an annual subscription, garden waste is collected direct from a supplied wheelie bin on a regular basis throughout the gardening season, with details available by visiting www.bromley.gov.uk/gardencollections.
